Laughter Yoga is a deceptively simple, yet very powerful and potentially life-changing, form of exercise that anybody can do — anytime, anywhere. Its core premise is that your body can and knows how to laugh, regardless of what your mind has to say; Laughter Yoga is a body-mind approach to laughter, not something mind-body. The distinction is very important. Here you do not need to have a sense of humor, know jokes, or even be happy. Laughter Yoga invites you to fake it until it becomes real.  Sebastian Gendry-Laughteryogaamerica.com

In March 1995 Dr. Madan Kataria, a family physician from Mumbai, India, decided one morning to write an article called “Laughter-the best medicine” for his monthly health magazine “My Family Doctor”. His ensuing desk research led him to discover an overwhelming body of scientific literature that described in great length the proven benefits of laughter on the human mind and body. He was particularly impressed with Norman Cousin’s book “Anatomy of an Illness”. He immediately decided to field test the alleged stress-busting impact of laughter on himself and at 7am on March 13th, 1995, he went to his local public park and somehow managed to motivate four people to start a “Laughter Club” with him.  This was the beginning of what has become a world wide movement.
